PRE MATCH REVIEW: Heyside vs Manchester Central FC

Central travel to Heyside knowing nothing but a win is good enough if they want to keep their title hopes alive

Mcguires side know that they have to get maximum points from their remaining five games if they are wanting to achieve their aims of winning the league alive.

Currently, Central are on a 14 game unbeaten run after not losing since mid-November against current lead leaders Hindsford. Since then Central have picked up 35 points out a possible 42. This run has enabled Central to be the only team who can overtake Hindsford who sit on 61 points.

Saturday’s opponents are familiar faces in Heyside who Central have already faced twice this season, winning 5-2 earlier on in the season and most recently 1-0 in the Gilgyrst Cup quarter-finals. So Mcguire and his team know they must be at their best if they are going to come home with 3 points on Saturday.

Heyside themselves have been on a great run of form recently only losing one of the last seven games in the Premier Division. Their last defeat was against Hindsford as they succumbed to a 4-1 loss two weeks ago. This defeat ended their title aspirations but, Heyside has their best points total in the Premier division since being promoted back in 2017.

Heysides’ danger men are Adam Dale who has 13 goals in 11 appearances so far and Jordan Schofield who has 11 goals in 30 appearances.

Last time out Central faced East Manchester and won convincingly 7-2, with four goals coming from the league’s top goalscorer Cory Knight, a brace from Dan Burns and a goal from Buba Sakiliba.

Central enter their final five games knowing nothing but a win will be good enough if they are going to win the title. Heyside will be out to upset Central and stop their title aspirations. With a big crowd expected it will be a fantastic atmosphere and we urge as many people to come down and attend as possible.
