After a lengthy wait, Manchester Central return to action in the Gilgryst Cup as they face division rivals Heyside at the Manchester College in Round Two. (KO: 15:00).
Central emphatically defeated Bolton County 5-2 back in October to earn another home tie for Round Two. A spectacular four-goal haul from Cory Knight and a fifth goal from Dario Germano sealed an impressive win.
Heyside faced Stockport Georgians in Round One, a side Central recently beat. Heyside recorded a narrow 3-2 win, scoring two goals in the last 10 minutes to secure victory. Christopher Ollerton scored the winner after Mark Hopwood had scored a brace.

Our visitors are currently on a four-game win streak having scored 11 goals in those games. Captain Jordan Schofield is also their top scorer with 10 goals from 26 apps.
They currently sit just above Central in the league, in 3rd place, with 43 points. Although they have played one game more than Central.
Central are 5th with 41 points but will overtake Heyside with a win once we return to league action. For now, a place in the semi-final is at stake.
Central are unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions after last weekends game against Dukinfield Town ended all square. Josh Frith scored Central’s sole goal, taking his tally to 14 goals in 23 apps.
At home, Central have only lost three out of their 14 games, scoring 26 and only conceding 15. On Heyside’s travels, they have lost five out of their 13 games, winning eight. They have however shown they have a potent attack, scoring an average of 2.3 goals per game away from home.
The two sides met back in September, with the scores level at half time. Central scored 4 second-half goals to win the game 5-2. They will meet again after this cup tie in March for the reverse league fixture, which could be a crucial game for both teams.
