Match Report: Manchester Central vs Old Altrinchamians

Manchester Central continued their unbeaten run with an impressive 3-0 win over Old Altrinchamians.

Elvis Amoakwa, Josh Frith and Dan Burns all scored for Paul McGuire’s side in front of a big crowd at the Manchester College.

Central, who dominated from start to finish, are now fourth and just nine points off top of the table Hindsford with three games in hand.

The game began scrappily, but Central did enjoy early chances through Burns and Frith that were well saved by the Old Alts goalkeeper.

However, Central would not have to wait long to take the lead as Amoakwa unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box into the bottom left-hand corner.

The goal was no more than Central deserved with Old Alts struggling to deal with their slick passing game.

Midway through the first half Central extended their lead, Frith continuing his excellent run of form. The striker finishing well after a neat one-two with Burns.

Central had further chances to add more goals before half-time with Joe Darnell only being denied by the crossbar, but at 2-0 the hosts would have been delighted with their efforts in the first 45 minutes.

Marcello Ahrin had the first opportunity for Central in the second half but his shot went just over the bar. Although Central would wrap up the three points just after the hour mark.

This time Burns was on hand to finish, after a low cross from Frith.

Central were unable to add any further goals, but they remained resolute in defence limiting Old Alts to just a couple of chances.

Ben Jupp, who had been rarely tested all day, saved well from a free-kick late on to round off a perfect day for Central.

Next weekend Central face a trip to Stockport Georgians and will be looking for another win to keep up the pressure on the sides above them in the table.
