Manchester Central will play their first game in 2019 as they welcome Chadderton Reserves to the Manchester College on Saturday.
Central were in fine form before the break for Christmas, winning four games on the bounce.
The last of which was a 5-2 victory over Royton Town.
Paul McGuire’s side are currently seventh, but with games in hand on every team above them in the table, they remain in contention for promotion.
Chadderton, face a battle at the other end of the table. They are 12th with 18 points, just four more than bottom-placed side, East Manchester.
This Saturday’s contest will be the first time the two clubs have faced in the league this season.
However, Central did emerge 5-0 victors in the game played between the sides in the Norman Noden Cup.
Central will have to do without top scorer Cory Knight, having left the club to join Prestwich Hayes, a team which plays their football in the North West Counties Football League.
Central do still have plenty of firepower, including Josh Frith – who scored two goals in Central’s last home match against Dunkinfield Town.
They face a Chadderton side that has won five games away from home this season.
Niall Barnes is Chadderton’s top scorer with eight goals in just seven games, but having conceded 47 goals already this season, Central will surely be confident of testing the Chadderton defence.
With Central looking to push for promotion – get down to the Manchester College and support the team.
