Manchester Central will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they face bottom-of-the-table Dukinfield Town in the Manchester Football League Premier Division on Saturday (KO 15:00).
Central are in fine form going into the match at The Manchester College, having won five of their last eight matches in all competitions.
Their last outing was a hard-fought 1-0 victory away against Springhead, with Marcello Arhin providing the match-winning goal in the first half.
Central have impressed this season, after having won promotion from Division One at the end of the last campaign, and that has been in no small part down to their impressive attacking displays.
Striker Cory Knight has recorded 20 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions this season, leading the division scoring charts by an impressive five goals. Knight scored in Central’s 4-2 win over Bolton County the week prior to their Springhead clash.
Opponents Dukinfield Town have found fortunes against them this season, currently sitting a point adrift at the base of the Premier Division table, but did record an impressive 2-2 draw against a good Heyside team in their last match. Prior to that, the side had suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of top-of-the-table Hindsford.
Dukinfield’s top goalscorer this season is Daniel Parkinson, who has seven goals in all competitions, some way off Central’s Knight and level with their second-top goalscorer in Josh Frith.
A win for Central, so long as other results go their way, could see them continue to rise up the table and reach fifth position. Manager Paul McGuire’s side also have the added bonus of having games in hand on all the teams above them, and all but one of the teams beneath.
