Manchester Central will be looking to secure their second win in two weeks over Bolton County when they travel to the side’s Radcliffe Road ground on Saturday in the Manchester Football League Premier Division (KO 14:00).
Central already claimed a 5-2 victory over their opponents at home in the Gilgryst Cup at the end of October, and manager Paul McGuire will be looking to repeat the accomplishment on their travels this weekend.
In their last match, Central suffered a frustrating 3-2 defeat to top-of-the-table Hindsford despite having taken an early two goal lead in the game. Cory Knight, Central’s top goalscorer this season, netted a brace within the first thirty minutes of the game but the result wasn’t meant to be.
That loss was just Central’s four defeat in the league this season, after 11 games, as McGuire’s side continues to adapt well to the top division following their promotion last season.
Knight’s impressive goalscoring record has been a key factor in that success, with the Central front man netting 18 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions – leading the league’s goalscoring charts by four goals.
Opponents Bolton County’s joint top goalscorers in comparison have just five goals this season.
Central’s opposition in this match also sit directly beneath them in the league table, in 8th and 9th places respectively, but have played two more games than McGuire’s men. Both teams have 15 points to their names.
Bolton County have lost their last five games in all competitions, having not recorded points since their 2-1 victory over Royton Town at the end of September. Their last match saw the side lose 2-1 to East Manchester.
While hosts Bolton County will be keen to turn their fortunes around, Central will see the match as a keen opportunity to put last weekend’s disappointment behind them and earn another three points in the league.
