Manchester Central Reserves will be looking to turn their fortunes around against a tough Moorside Rangers Reserves side in the Manchester Football League Division Four, at The Manchester College on Saturday (KO 14:00).
Central Reserves have lost their last three games in the division, after having started the season with a resounding 12-0 win.
That has left the side sitting in mid-table, in 7th position, with three points from their first four matches. However, it is mostly their goal difference that has seen them sitting so high up in the table.
Given the talented nature of the players Central Reserves have, the squad will be wanting to kickstart a turnaround in form as soon as possible and this weekend’s game against Moorside Rangers Reserves may be the perfect opportunity.
It will be a tough and highly competitive clash, with Moorside Rangers sitting in 3rd place in the table having won three of their four games so far this season. Even in the game they lost, the side offered a significant challenge, falling 3-2 to Bolton Lads & Girls Club Reserves.
Jazzie Marong and Nathan Jackson lead Central Reserves’ goalscoring charts this season with four goals apiece, and having seen their side score only one goal in the last two games will be no doubt desperate to get back to form.
Moorside Rangers Reserves’ top goalscorer by comparison is Jason Wood, who has five goals so far this season.
One other factor that could fall into Central Reserves’ favour is the fact they are playing at home.
The side won their only game of the season at home – the only home match they’ve played so far this league campaign – while Moorside Rangers’ only defeat came away from home.
