Manchester Central Community team visit carehomes
On Thursday 31st May and Friday 1st June Manchester Central Community Scheme visited Lisburne Court and Welcroft carehome in Stockport and Gatley to run arm chair activities with their residents.
The aim of these activities are to get residents active by doing hand eye coordination games whilst remaining in their chairs. We use soft footballs, bean bags and quoits to play a range of games to keep the residents interested.
We have been running sessions at numerous care homes for over a year now and its been a fantastic success with the residents looking forward to us coming in and doing activities with them.
Community coach Josh Hawkes said ” Coming into the community and running activities like this is really rewarding for us. It gives the residents a form of exercise which is different and exciting. We have found residents who don’t want to join in get the enjoyment from watching the activities take place. Its also a fantastic advert for the football club to be grassroots and still aiding people in the community”
Manchester Central Community Scheme has been running for around a year and a half now and is aiming to grow and work with more of the community and get as many people active in sport as possible.
Make sure you keep checking for updates on the community scheme in the upcoming months
