Manchester Central take on top of the table Beechfield United this Saturday at Ten Acres Lane (14:00 KO), with only 3 league games remaining.
Central sealed a mid-week victory over Boothstown after defeat against Atherton Town last weekend. Tuesday’s game saw Central score through Jamar Campbell shortly before half time. However he was sent off after 54 minutes, yet Central showed a fighting spirit to ensure victory.
Beechfield, who haven’t played since the 10th, lost twice in the space of 3 days to Chadderton Reserves and Elton Vale, conceding 5 goals. However, they are a very good attacking side. 3 out of the top 6 leading goal scorers are Beechfield players. Their front two of Jamie Sinnott and Jordan Jones-Waite will need to be monitored heavily by the Central defence.
Excluding their last two results, Beechfield have won 6 out of their last 8 and Central will be in for a tough game, playing a side looking to bounce back from two defeats. A win for Beechfield would also add pressure to Chadderton Reserves who are closing in on the league leaders.
The two teams have met twice already this season with both teams winning 1 game. Central defeated Beechfield in the Murray Trophy 2-0 in October, yet Beechfield beat Central 2-0 back in August.
With Central scoring just 2 goals in their last 2 games, Josh Frith could be Central’s man to reignite Central’s goal scoring prowess, that we have seen so often this season. Frith looks to score his third goal in as many games.
