Manchester Central look to continue their impressive December form into the new year when they take on Elton Vale on Saturday (15:00 KO).
The match at Ten Acres will be a chance for Central to claim some revenge, having lost 4-1 to their opponents on the opening match of the season.
Central sit second in the league and won all four games they contested in December, netting a remarkable 16 goals and conceding just four.
They will be hoping such form continues and will be looking towards top goalscorer Cory Knight to add to his current haul of 13 goals in 18 appearances, having netted hat-tricks in Central’s last two games.
Elton Vale’s top goalscorer Lewis Benson, by comparison, has six goals in his 10 starts – the same as Central’s second top scorer Kaine Martin.
The Fold, as Elton Vale are known, also go into the match with a perfect December record, but contested just one game in the month – a 5-2 away win against Westbury.
Either way, Paul McGuire’s Central side will have some threats to watch against an Elton Vale side that sit seventh in the Manchester League Division One and seven points behind Central, but have games in hand on everyone else.
Those threats will include striker Kelvin Trippier, who netted twice for Elton Vale in their last outing, and defender Liam Boswell who scored a brace when the sides met earlier in the season.
Central should however find positives in the fact they have won eight of their 11 home games this season, while Elton Vale have managed just two wins in five away fixtures.
Both of Central’s last two matches, at home against Hollinwood and Boothstown, have seen them win by a 3-1 scorelines. Cory Knight scored all six goals in those games.
